Message to the G8 World Leaders
 |
| G8 World Leaders Meeting 2007 |
IMAGINE takes place around the same time as the G8 World Leaders Meeting in Canada. The G8 World Leaders Meeting is a meeting of the world's richest nations (Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the UK and the US), representing 14% of the world's population, and 65% of the world economy.
The combined G8 military spending was US$850 billion, representing 72% of the world's total military expenditures and accounting for 96-99% of the world's nuclear weapons.
IMAGINE is part of the visionary open source EARTHSHIP Summit, the world's largest happening for environmental and social change. This is an alternative people's summit to complement the G8 World Leaders Meeting.
We plan to invite to the EARTHSHIP Summit, 200 of the world's poorest nations aka non-G8 nations, non-profit organizations, green businesses, and concerned citizens of the world.
Citizens worldwide will be able to share the beauty of art, listen to music and deal with issues such as: poverty, peace, sustainability, health, the extinction of species, equal rights, the environment, and the future of our planet. Along with the concert, there will also be conferences, exhibitions, sustainability competitions, talent search, and happenings across the world dealing with social and environmental issues.
We plan to produce a summary report of the world's concerns for submission to all the G8 World Leaders.

The WOODSTOCK '69 Connection
Artie Kornfeld at age 26, was one of the four original founders who organized the world famous WOODSTOCK '69. Woodstock was a music festival, billed as An Aquarian Exposition, which took place at Max Yasgur's dairy farm in the rural town of Bethel, New York from August 15 to August 18, 1969.
WOODSTOCK '69 turned out to be one of the world's largest and greatest cultural (counterculture) events of the 20th century. Attended by half a million people, the festival exemplified the counterculture of the late 1960s – early 1970s, known as the "hippie era". WOODSTOCK '69 had thirty-two of the best-known musicians of the day, including Jimi Hendrix, the Who, Janis Joplin, Santana, Grateful Dead, Joe Cocker, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young... The event was captured in a successful 1970 documentary movie, Woodstock, an accompanying soundtrack album, and Joni Mitchell's song "Woodstock", which commemorated the event and became a major hit for Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.
Artie Kornfeld was the soul of WOODSTOCK '69, seeing it as a way to end the Vietnam War, and to support civil rights, while Michael Lang saw Woodstock as a new, relaxed way of bringing business people together. The other two partners John Roberts, and Joel Rosenman put in the seed money to finance the project.
There has been a few attempts to cash in on Woodstock '69 with other music festival, including Woodstock II and Woodstock III, but Artie Kornfeld was never involved with the organization of any of them. Artie proudly says he was not involved with Woodstock II or Woodstock III.
Even Neil Young said, "other music festivals were not the same, without Artie Kornfeld..." The Woodstock Preservation Alliance acknowledged that Artie Kornfeld was the soul of Woodstock by naming him the "Father of Woodstock"...
We invite the entire Woodstock Nation to bring back the spirit of Woodstock '69 to the world. People are dying from poverty, the planet is polluted, numerous species are facing extinction, there is still war and injustice. Join the green movement, and share the vision for a better society.

The Spirit of Woodstock '69 returns with IMAGINE
 |
| Half a million people at Woodstock in 1969 |
After 40 years - since Woodstock '69, Artie Kornfeld is returning to help organize IMAGINE - a new "Woodstock for the WE Generation". IMAGINE is the only music festival created in the true spirit of Woodstock '69 that Artie Kornfeld has been directly involve in organizing and promoting...
Artie Kornfeld put his heart and soul into creating Woodstock '69, as a way to end the Vietnam War, and to support civil rights. In fact Artie's mother was one of the leaders of the freedom rides, to end segregation in the south, so the spirit of wanting to create a better world was instilled in Artie Kornfeld at a very young age.
For IMAGINE, Artie Kornfeld is teaming up with green visionary Artist David Kam to make it another world changing event. Come join history!
Artie says, "we will unite four generations to bring back the spirit of Woodstock '69 to change the world from ME 2 WE. I believe that what we did at Woodstock in 1969 helped the civil rights movement, and eventually ended the Vietnam war; it also set the stage for Obama to be elected President of the United States and I am so proud of that".
Artie later became Vice President of Capital Records (East Coast Division), helping to write, and produced an astonishing 100 platinum records. He
become friends with Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles, Frank Zappa, Blondie, Sonny and Cher and among other rock royalty...

Artist David Kam also invited Michael Lang, the other original organizer of Woodstock '69 to join the team for IMAGINE, but he declined due to other commitments.

The John Lennon "Imagine" Connection
Aritie Kornfeld wrote songs for others and even had his own brief stint as a pop star in 1965 and ‘66 when his group, the Changin’ Times, had one of two hit versions of his song “Pied Piper,” a tune that John Lennon singled out as a favorite in interviews at the time. With that hit, Kornfeld toured the U.S. as an opening act for Sonny and Cher.
Years later, he had occasion to meet Lennon when they were using adjacent recording halls.
“I was in the restroom, leaning over the urinal snorting coke. Without his glasses on, Lennon couldn't’t see a thing, and all of a sudden I felt this wet stream running down the back of my leg. I turn around and go, ‘Oh, my God, John Lennon! And, by the way, you’re peeing on me.’
“He said, ‘Who are you?’ I identified myself, and he said, ‘I know you’ but didn't’t say anything about Woodstock. Instead, he told me that ‘Pied Piper’ was one of his favorite songs. That made me feel real good, because then, in the early ’70s, people only knew me as Artie Woodstock.”
By 1968, Kornfeld was Capitol Records’ East Coast Vice President of Artists and Repertoire. He helped sign the Band, Debbie Harry’s first group and other acts to the label; assisted Paul McCartney in setting up the Beatles’ Apple Records; hung out with Frank Zappa; had a “drug friendship” with Jimi Hendrix and otherwise comported himself in the manner of the times. How times have changed, Artie is now living a life as clean as a whistle, with focus on meditation and a healthy lifestyle.
Artie became good friends with Lennon near the end of his life... Although John Lennon has passed away, but his dream lives on. Come join us dreamers for a chance to experience 2 days of Love and Music to Change the World.
OUR TEAM OF DREAMERS
Here are some of the team members that we are assembling. Note: that the list is just a partial list and the team is still being assembled.

Artist David Kam, Co-Founder of IMAGINE
Artist and green visionary David Kam conceived the EARTHSHIP Summit and the 2-day IMAGINE music and arts festival, as part of his master plan call the Human Internet Project. His plan calls the creation of a massive inter-connected grassroots "Global Village" of people, organizations, and computers to bring about massive environmental and social change on a global scale.
He is the founder of the Thinkism Art Movement, the first fine art movement of the 21st century ("known as the socially conscious art movement"). Founded on September 12, 2001, the day after 911, the Thinkism Art Movement produces socially conscious art relevant to the 21st century. Some
people view Thinkism as “protest art”, but it is more than that. We are living on the brink of a world metamorphosis, with world events moving at the speed of light; Thinkism art's 21st century themes include: war, climate change, extinction of species, poverty, media control, the rise of the Internet, pop culture domination, genetically modified organisms, love, freedom, racism, gun
control, globalization, terrorism, fashion in society, celebrities in
society, the role of money in society, the fine
line between advertising and false advertising,
food in society, sex in society ...etc.

Polar Bear Extinction
Acrylic on Oil on Canvas |
Artist David Kam is not famous, nor is he rich, nor is he even well connect; David is just a ordinary unknown artist with a small idea and a big dream, since the founding of the Thinkism Art Movement in 2001. In his small world, he and other like minded artists painted about climate change, the extinction of species, poverty, war, media control, the rise of the Internet and other themes relevant to the 21st century.
In fact, back in 2001 artist David Kam produced the world's first painting about climate change, almost 7 years before Al Gore's Inconvenient Truth film, called Polar Bear Extinction, shown above in his Extinction Style ("the main subject is left blank on canvas").
Fast Forward Almost 10 years Later
The Thinkism Art Movement which started out in 2001 was not only about creating socially conscious art, but in David Kam's manifesto in 2001 he wanted also to use art to make the world a better place by creating positive social change.
After almost 10 years later, artist David Kam is making his dream a reality.

Artie Kornfeld (the father of Woodstock), Co-Founder of IMAGINE
In 1969 at the tender age of 26, Artie Kornfeld helped raise Woodstock from a pipe dream to the world’s largest peaceful gathering and the defining moment of his generation. You can say that Woodstock '69 was Artie's "Citizen Kane".
Woodstock in 1969 is widely regarded as one of the greatest moments in popular music history and was listed on Rolling Stone's 50 Moments That Changed the History of Rock and Roll. The event was captured in a successful 1970 documentary movie, Woodstock and an accompanying soundtrack album; Joni Mitchell's song "Woodstock", which commemorated the event became a major hit for Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. Artie is now known worldwide as “The Father of Woodstock”, the name was given to him by the Woodstock Preservation Alliance.
Before Woodstock, Artie got his start in the music industry, after a record executive heard a demo he had made and signed him to a songwriting contract. Within six months, four of Kornfeld’s compositions were on the Billboard charts, performed by such groups as the Angels, as a follow-up to their hit "My Boyfriend’s Back", Wayne Newton and the Shirelles. In 1963, he was sent out to L.A. to write with Jan Berry of Jan & Dean, with the notable result being the car crash classic, "Dead Man’s Curve".
Along with writing songs for others, Artie had his own brief stint as a pop star in 1965 and '66 when his group, the Changin' Times, had one of two hit versions of his song "Pied Piper". With that hit, Kornfeld toured the U.S. as an opening act for Sonny and Cher.
By 1968, Artie was Capitol Records' East Coast Vice President of Artists and Repertoire, the record label of the Beatles. He helped sign the Band, Debbie Harry’s first group and other acts to the label; he also assisted Paul McCartney in setting up the Beatles' Apple Records; he hung out with Frank Zappa and had a "drug friendship" with Jimi Hendrix. Now, Artie is living a life as clean as a whistle, with focus on meditation and a healthy lifestyle.
In the legal machinations that followed Woodstock, the partners split into factions, and none of them saw a fraction of the millions racked in by the subsequent movie and albums.
Artie went back to what he did best, composing, publishing, producing, managing, and promoting musicians. His forty years in the music business earned him over 100 platinum projects.
